I actually like this place but it tastes like a burrito I would make at home. I'd rather just save my money and make it at home.

The search continues.... 10 months living in Kansas City and I've yet to find decent mexican food. Highlight of my visit? When the very nice woman working behind the counter told me that the Carlito's Burrito came smothered in chili I asked Red or Green. Her response.... Beef. Damn white people.

First of all, the food is cheap and that is a serious plus. It's also at least heated up and put together when you order it and you can actually alter your order (as in, I order enchiladas without onions and they prepare it for me that way which is a major plus). I don't eat in the place because I don't like the feel of it. I get my food to go and I eat it at home. It's not fancy and the service isn't much to speak of. Make sure to ask for no ice or little ice or be prepared to have a huge cup of ice and very little room for your drink choice. I actually think the enchiladas are good if you like tex-mex type food loaded with cheese (and I do love cheese). The rice is good as well. I think for the price and to grab a quick take home order, it's a decent enough place to go.

This is the most disgusting expensive microwaved styrofoam plate of garbage I have ever had the miss fortune of paying for I litterly took one look and ask for my money back. When they refused I made the second mistake of the night and actually tried to eat it. I was only able to take one bite befor I had to throw it in the garbage were it belonged

If only I had read the reviews first... This had to be the worst meal me and my family have ever had out. Everything was cold and bland. My son got a mini melt and all the shredded cheese fell out as he was eating it. Nothing melted there. Save your money and go taco bell. 10 stars compared to this place.

I was driving down N. Oak and saw this place, so I thought I would stop in and try it. It felt like I was at the concession stand of a high school football game. That would have been fine if I were actually at a high school football game because I would've known what to expect. At least then my money would be going to support a local cause. This was just weird. The food was so bad. I felt like I was eating it on a dare (I actually just ate it because I had paid for it and didn't want to waste my money... should've just taken the loss).

Did you just put my entire styrofoam to-go container in the microwave? I'm not even sure why I brought it all the way home to throw it away.

I made the mistake of not reading Yelp before coming to this restaurant. Taco Bell is better than this restaurant. They cooked our food in the microwave. It didn't even taste good and it was expensive. Don't eat here!

Without a doubt my favorite fast food mexican restaurant is Carlitos. It's been around for 25 years and I've been eating there since it opened. It's run by a man named Ben, who happens to be one of the nicest men I've ever met. When you taste a Carlitos burrito, you don't regret it a half hour later like you do at all the other fast food mexican joints. It's not expensive like your regular sit down restaurants are either. If only they delivered. Pro Tip: The nachos are the best because the cheese doesn't taste processed like the other joints where the cheese is runny or hard. The chips are piled high and covers the entire plate.

Terrible. Terrible. Awful. Do not eat here unless you like expensive, not good "Mexican" food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
